Laura Eubanks Gambrel, Ph.D., LMFT, LPC, AAMFT Approved Supervisor
Dr. Laura Eubanks Gambrel is an Assistant Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program in the Department of Human Development and Psychological Counseling. She earned her Ph.D. in Human Development with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. She received her master's degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. She is also trained in play therapy. She has worked as a therapist in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health, private practice, schools and universities, and residential treatment. Her clinical work and research focus on ways to improve couple and family relationships through mindfulness-based interventions, the transition to parenthood, gender roles in parenting, and systemic play therapy. In addition, she is passionate about marriage and family therapy training and supervision with a social justice lens. She develops scholarship that explores creative and experiential ways to teach systems concepts to graduate students.
